Much of the poetry studied this season is depressing; however, not absolutely all the poetry is usually. The depressing designs of dread and trauma in Wislawa Szymborska’s The Terrorist, He’s Watching, and Julia Copus’s The Back Chair of my Mother’s Car, are conveyed through the entire poems. Robert Frost’s “Out, Out-“ and Jennifer Maiden’s Prang convey the topic of accidental loss of life. These poems are as opposed to the calm and cheerful themes in The Suitor, by Jane Kenyon, and A soft Sea washed throughout the house, by Emily Dickinson, which depict a confident perspective of life.

The depressing styles of trauma and dread will be conveyed in the poems the Terrorist, He’s Watching, by Wislawa Szymborska, and The Back chair of my Mother’s Car, by Julia Copus. Copus’s poem is approximately a traumatising childhood experience of discomfort and separation, which is comparable to the readers’ traumatic watch of a terrorist assault in The Terrorist, He’s Watching.
